Lunar New Year falls on Tuesday ,17 February 2026.


What is the significance of Lunar New Year? 

The Lunar New Year is one of the most important and widely celebrated festivals in many East and Southeast Asian cultures.

It marks the beginning of the new year according to the lunar calendar, which is based on the cycles of the moon.

The date varies each year but typically falls between late January and mid-February.


2026 will be the year of which zodiac animal? 

The Lunar New Year in 2026 is ushering in the Year of the Horse.

The Horse is the seventh animal in the 12-year zodiac cycle and is associated with traits such as energy, independence, optimism, and vitality.

Additionally, the year 2026 is associated with the Fire element, making it the Year of the Fire Horse. The Fire element is believed to imbue the Horse with qualities like passion, dynamism, boldness, and strong leadership.

General stalls are not available at this event; they are reserved exclusively for sponsors. 


How can I get to the festival?

Transport to the festival by train is recommended for easy access. Cabramatta Railway Station falls on the T3 Bankstown, T5 Cumberland and T2 Inner West and South lines and is a 45-minute journey from Central Train Station.


Where can I park my car? 

There are car parks and street parking available in Cabramatta, subject to availability. Paid car parking is available at the Dutton Lane multideck carpark (780 spaces) and Fisher Street multideck carpark (350 spaces). 

Free-timed car parking is available at several smaller carparks in the Town Centre; however, they are in high demand. 


Are pets allowed at the Lunar New Year 2026 Festival?

For the safety of your pet, it is best advised to leave your pet at home away from large crowds and loud noises.

Please ensure to keep your pets safe at home during the fireworks display at 9pm.

What happens if it rains on the day of the Lunar New Year Festival?

In the event of wet weather, the event site will be assessed to determine the suitability to continue the event and program.
