Tell me more about the Purple Flag status

Canley Heights and Canley Vale have officially secured Purple Flag accreditation, placing The Canleys among a growing network of internationally recognised night-time destinations.

Purple Flag is an independent accreditation program that assesses precincts against five key pillars; wellbeing, movement, appeal, place and strong local partnerships. It recognises areas that are safe, vibrant and well-managed, and highlights destinations that successfully bring together councils, businesses and the community to create welcoming after-dark experiences.

This recognition complements the ongoing Special Entertainment Precinct (SEP) trial across The Canleys, which is helping to unlock a more vibrant night-time economy. Through the SEP framework, trading hours have been extended, red tape reduced and businesses supported to deliver more live entertainment, dining and community programming.

Together, Purple Flag accreditation and the SEP trial reinforce The Canleys as welcoming, high-quality destinations supporting local businesses, encouraging visitation and building confidence in the area’s growing night-time economy.
